Hanse Yachts Germany has presented their new 5 Series for the model year 2010- 2011. From 32 ft to 54ft the yachts designed by Judel –Vrolijk & Co in cooperation with the Hanse engineering and boat building team are again setting trends for production boat design.

Hanse 545 –The First to hit the Water

The first of the 5 Series from Hanse Yachts makes a dramatic sight on the water.

Arriving just in time for Sydney International Boatshow, this awesome yacht has been commissioned under the eagle eye of Windcraft’s shipwright David Griffin. The marina at Bayview on Sydney’s Pittwater was abuzz with excitement on Saturday as the lines released this mighty craft out to the building breeze. In true Hanse style the cockpit and decks are clear of clutter. Setting the North’s sails with the Selden in-mast furling system is simply a matter of pressing buttons and managing the lines brought neatly to the helm position. The helm is a set of super sexy black carbon wheels; anyone lucky enough to have them in their hands that day was very reluctant to give them up!

An imposing sail area was easy to handle, even in the brisk 20knt westerly on that first sail. This manageability is largely due to the self tacking headsail with high aspect rig, intrinsic to the design of all Hanse Yachts allowing easy sailing without compromising performance. The tall tapered mast is trimmed using a high ratio hydraulic backstay control. To be alone on deck, streaming across the water and then tack this powerful beast without assistance is an adrenalin filled experience.

The Hanse 545 will be at Sydney Boatshow. Previews of this boat can be arranged through Team Windcraft Sydney. Contact John Cowpe

Hanse 445

The Hanse 445 will follow in design and interior features the successful trend of the 545 with a coach roof cabin, loft style layout and panoramic hull windows in the saloon.  Other features include walkable bow storage, large bathing platform, two spreader rig with discontinuous rigging and longer waterline than on many comparable yachts.

Hanse 355 and 325

The design of the new” babies” of the Hanse fleet is an evolution of the popular 320 and 350. With eye catching and comfortable new interiors that include precision curved surfaces the yachts again stand out from the crowd.

Completely re-engineered are the bottom structure and the inline-structures as well as the coachroof. More curves and a smoother radius present sleek and distinctive looking little yachts.

The rig, sail plan, keel and rudder are untouched because they are perfect and responsible for high stability, good safe sailing and manoeuvrability.

Hanse’s own 5 –axes milling centre is used to produce highly accurate modules and moulds allowing the new series to be in production quickly and efficiently.

Details and Renderings of the Hanse 5 Series are now available.
