AIMEX ATTENDS CHINA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

A group of Australian marine exporters is attending the China International Boat Show 2008 in Shanghai, showcasing exciting new marine products to this significant Asian market.

Led by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), the Australian manufacturers and marine service providers view the 13th China International Boat Show at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre staged April 10-13 as an important marketing opportunity.

“AIMEX members enjoyed strong success at the 2007 event and many of the companies who attended last year are returning to further cement their successful business relationships,” said AIMEX Chief Executive Mary Anne Edwards.

AIMEX is a peak private sector group representing Australian marine exporters.

Companies attending the 2008 China International Boat Show include Asea Yacht Design Pty Ltd, Austral Propellers, Coursemaster Autopilots Pty Ltd, Dynamic Products Pty Ltd, Fixtech, HyDrive Engineering Pty Ltd, MultiPanel, Pyrotek Soundguard Pty Ltd, Riviera Marine (Int) Pty Ltd, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Seawind Catamarans, Stebercraft Pty Ltd and Sunrunner Cruisers Pty Ltd.

Asea Yacht Design Pty Ltd (AYD) is able to complete boat and component certification for manufacturers looking to export to the European Union (EU) and the USA. The company can provide certification through the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) and National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). This is the third year the company has exhibited at China International Boat Show, promoting its services of naval architecture and yacht design, IMCI and NMMA certification. The company has five years’ experience operating in China.  Noteworthy Chinese clientele include Xingma Yachting in Suzhou with the production of a 35ft fiberglass power boat and Qingdau Yacht Building with the production of a 40ft fibreglass sports fishing boat. The company also forges strong business relationships with a range of Asian countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia. Other new projects include a 12m fiberglass amphibious vehicle to be built in Shanghai; 12m electric power passenger ferries for Singapore Zoo built in Malaysia and a 56ft luxury sport powerboat for a Hong Kong client.

Austral Propellers is at the Show promoting its premium propellers for all types of inboard installations. In other news, the company is now distributing VEEM Propellers in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Austral’s general manager Steve Vincent said the company was proud to reach the landmark Australia-wide and regional distribution agreement with VEEM Propellers. “This is a tremendous opportunity for us as VEEM is producing a truly world-class range of innovative, high performance propeller styles.”

Dynamic Products is attending the China International Boat Show for the second time to build greater rapport with business contacts from 2007. The company’s RonMarks RM water skis, wakeboards, ski tubes, buoyancy vests, life jackets and wet suits are part of the perfoRMance range, designed and manufactured in house by the Marks family owned company, Dynamic Products Corporation. The company is seeking enquiries from well-established and financially-capable importers and distributors.

HyDrive Engineering is showcasing a new hydraulic steering cylinder (211BH) which has unique and ultra-strong mounting horns. The product is designed for maximum strength and impact resistance to match the performance of today’s high performance boats and outboards. The 211 ‘bullhorn’ type steering cylinder has a full 8-inch stroke and a new narrow profile making it perfect for narrow engine wells on catamarans and monohulls. The tough, dual-nickel coating on the all-bronze and brass precision manufactured cylinders ensures a longer life span. The Bosun Series 411BN ‘bullhorn’ cylinder is manufactured in aluminium with a black satin adonised finish, an ideal solution for price conscious OEMs and an alternative to budget priced aluminium steering cylinders on the market. Hydrive Engineering in South Australia has been manufacturing award winning hydraulic boat steering equipment for 40 years.

Australian materials company MultiPanel is also returning to the Show following global expansion to major boat building companies across the Asian region. The company is looking to further expand into the region after the conclusion of the China Show in April.

Leading Australian luxury boat builder Riviera Marine (Int) Pty Ltd will have an indoor display at the China show, through dealer SCAS Yachts International.

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will promote the upcoming 2008 and 2009 events at the China event. This leading international show staged at Sanctuary Cove in Queensland, has around 4km of on-water displays plus pavilion and hardstand displays. The May 22-25 (2008) show is the site of dozens of world and regional product launches.

“We are also delighted that John Heselwood, editor of Boating Business is part of the AIMEX contingent at the China International Boat Show. He’ll be accompanying the group to report on the event,” said Ms Edwards.

The China International Boat Show is part of the AIMEX year-long marketing campaign. The group also attends leading shows in Australia, the US, Europe and the Middle East.
