Sailfish Weekender 3000 Hits a Sweet Spot

Sailfish Catamarans has unveiled a new model cat aimed squarely at the family leisure market.  The Sailfish Weekender 3000 successfully brings together all the best attributes of the legendary Sailfish marquee, in a boat that can be enjoyed by the family unit.

With an enviable heritage in game fishing, commercial and rescue work, the Sailfish brand has earned an enviable reputation for being a durable and seaworthy boat under the most difficult conditions.  Now all the attributes that have combined to create this stunning craft have been applied to the Weekender series.

As the name implies, the Sailfish Weekender is designed as a boat that can be enjoyed as the family holiday home… on water.  The Weekender 3000 boasts a generous length overall of 8.2 meter and a beam of 3.0m.  By any yardstick, this is a big boat with exceptional opportunities for creative and functional interior layout.

The Sailfish Weekender has a massive cockpit area, the dimensions of which owners of fibreglass cruisers of a similar length are envious of.  The mid-cabin area features a fully optioned galley, convertible U shaped dinette and a helm station that houses a suite of advanced marine electronics.

Forward is a massive state room with queen sized double bed, private head and shower to make a weekend on the water comfortable and accommodating.   There is on board sleeping that accommodates four people comfortably.

And when night descends, even out in the wilderness, the trappings of modern contemporary living are right at hand with in-built TV and DVD player to entertain.  The inventory list of creature comforts encompass the most basic of needs such as hot water and a fully plumbed toilet, while air conditioning and an on board gen set can also be specified.

With Honda four stroke outboards on the transom, up to dual 225 hp engines can be fitted, the Sailfish Weekender has all the power needed to get this rig up and running in a snap, while at the same time delivering exceptional fuel economy.  The on-board tanks have a capacity of 700 litres of fuel and 200 litres of fresh water.

“We have found that the Sailfish Weekender concept has a following amongst regular weekend family boaters,” said Gavan Daly of Webbe Marine.  “Traditionally we have found the Sailfish appeals very strongly to game fishermen, but with the enormous bam of the Sailfish, the opportunity for a massive interior is unique to Sailfish.”

“This design really has hit a sweet spot with family boaters.”

A key feature of the new model Sailfish Catamarans is the HydroFlow Hull design.  This unique feature embodies a wider sponson design that has increased the level of stability in the hull at rest.

With the new HydroFlow hull shape, extra stability in cornering has been achieved by widening the chine profile on each sponson.  The outcome is a much flatter attitude when cornering. The wider chine has also greatly increased spray deflection creating a drier and smoother ride in rough water.

Sailfish Catamarans are regarded as the benchmark for aluminium power cat performance in Australia with a range of versatile game fishing and family-friendly models to choose from.

Webbe Marine is a specialist Sydney marine retailer, being the authorised agent for the Sailfish brand of boats. The company also proudly represents Honda outboards.
