Riviera’s dramatic new 5800 Sport Yacht takes to the water.

Australia’s largest luxury boat builder, Riviera, has launched its revolutionary new 5800 Sport Yacht in preparation for her official unveiling at the 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show next Thursday morning.

This new concept 5800 Sport Yacht takes luxury boating to a new level with its three or four cabin option including full beam master stateroom with midships king size bed, the option of a galley in the saloon or below decks, an expansive cockpit with large dining table and a garage that can accommodate a 3.2-metre tender. There is even the option of crew quarters or a large storage space forward of the engine room.

Declaring “business as usual”, Riviera CEO John Anderson said the company’s new Receivers fully backed the show display and an exciting new product line to be announced at the Show.

The 5800SY will be the centrepiece of the largest on-water display at the Show, covering nearly 4,000 square metres.

“We want to assure all our clients that doing business with Riviera is as comfortable as ever,” said Anderson. “All deposits on new boats are secure with the Receiver. Every boat currently in build will be delivered as specified to our clients as will every one ordered from now on.

“Of course, we and our supply partners will continue to honour all warranties on our boats. It’s business as usual.”

He said the display at Sanctuary Cove will offer luxury models for a wide range of boating needs from 36 to 70 feet covering Sport Yachts, Flybridge and Offshore Express models.

“We are particularly excited about the new Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht,” said Anderson. “Already the company has taken multiple orders for this amazing new boat and I am sure the launch will generate even stronger interest.”

The 5800 Sport Yacht design further expands the indoor-outdoor character and sense of light and space introduced on the first award-winning Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht and carried on to the 4700SY and 4400SY. The greater volume has allowed designers to take both exterior lines and internal design to a new level of sophistication to create even more visual appeal.

The boat employs revolutionary Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, forward facing, propellers. This system offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking.

With a fuel capacity of 2,650 litres (700 US gal), the efficient drive system helps provide a long cruising range for this boat of about 450 nautical miles at 22knots. Water capacity is 750 litres (198 US gal).
