Over 700 anglers will converge on Hobsons Bay and surrounds over 11-13 December 2009 as they vie for their share of $45,000 in cash and prizes in the 16th Annual Snapper Classic.

Staged by the Altona Boating and Angling Club, with the support of Port Phillip Boating Centre, Bendigo Bank, Altona Village Traders Association, Big M and a host of other sponsors, one lucky angler will also walk away with a Haines Hunter 475 Profish boat, valued at $25,000.

The catch to winning this major prize… there is none! The Haines Hunter boat will be given away as a lucky prize, with the details of all adult entrants entered into the draw, so you don’t even need to catch a fish!

Based at Cresser Reserve, Altona (next to the boat launching facility), the fishing competition will commence at 6pm on Friday 11 December and conclude at 1pm on Sunday 13 December. The presentation, which will include drawing the winner of the Haines Hunter prize boat, will commence at 3.30pm.

Entry is open to all interested parties – $35 adults ($45 after 6 December); $25 for children aged 5-15 years. Fishing is restricted to Port Phillip Bay and may be done from a boat, pier, breakwater, jetty or shoreline.

The objective of the competition is to promote the sport of competitive fishing and foster fellowship and ethical fishing practise among anglers.
