A decision to develop a new state-of-the-art premises has really set the standard for Hitech Marine as one of Australia’s premiere MerCruiser Sales and Service locations.

“There are so many sterndrive and inboard powered boats in Western Australia. It’s great to be able to offer customers a dedicated facility to look after their boats,” said co-owner Tony Spitteri.

“People come in and say ‘Wow’. Not one person has walked through and not been impressed.”

Hitech Marine’s new purpose-built premises, in the northern Perth suburb of Wangara, has 14002 metres of floor space. A third of that is the showroom which is big enough to have virtually the entire MerCruiser range on display. The rest of the building is dedicated to the giant workshop and storage for a huge range of spare parts.

But that’s not all – outside there’s another 1,5002 metres of concrete hardstand for customers’ boats.

“We can now bring a 40-foot boat inside and work on it undercover,” Tony said. “It makes a big difference because we can do a better job and it’s more cost effective for our clients.”

Hitech Marine are engine & parts specialists – they don’t deal in boats – they sell, install and maintain Mercury MerCruiser and Cummins MerCruiser Diesel engines.

And in the new purpose-built facility customers can see and touch the engines they are interested in.

“We really wanted to lift the engine and service side of the industry to a whole new level, and I think we’ve done that,” Tony said. “There’s nothing like this anywhere else in Australia. You walk in here and you are reminded of a new car dealership not just a mechanic’s workshop.”

After just a few weeks in the new premises, Tony has already noticed a difference in the work they are being asked to do.

“Customers are certainly asking us to do more for them,” he said. “As well as working on their engines they’re asking us to put in new seats or fix the electrics or get them a new trailer. I think it’s because they feel more comfortable and confident in the new premises.”

Business is so good in fact that Tony is busy looking to add to his staff of 10, needing Mercury qualified technicians and apprentices to help him keep up with demand.
