Outstanding achievement, high work ethic and leadership qualities have earned Ray Sommerfeld and Adam Snelling Riviera’s esteemed staff award – the Star Performer and Workplace, Health, Safety and Environment Star Performer of the Year award for 2010.

The awards have been running for more than 11 years and recognise outstanding employment contribution each quarter as nominated by each department head with the overall winners announced at the end of the year.

Ray and Adam received their awards at Riviera’s annual staff Christmas party which was held on December 16.

Riviera’s 400 staff and contractors came together to recognise excellence, celebrate Christmas and the efforts of 2010.

There was entertainment by a live band and a host of prizes were given away including shopping vouchers, Riviera merchandise and a Riviera boat cruise for six people complete with lunch.

Ray Sommerfeld was awarded the overall Star Performer of the year award for his dedication and outstanding commitment to his role as technical support officer, owner care.

Ray has worked for Riviera for the past 15 years and said he didn’t expect to win the overall Star Performer Award.

“I am customer focused and always try to make the owners of our boats happy, so this award shows appreciation for my efforts,” Ray said.

Dealer and owner care manager Bianca Cross said no task was too small or too hard for Ray and his commitment to ensuring Riviera owners enjoyed their boating experience was remarkable.

“Ray’s knowledge of our boats is outstanding, the dedication from him and the Owner Care Team is a wonderful asset to our business.  Having known and worked with Ray for over a decade, his passion and pride for his work and our brand is second to none.  Ray should be very proud of this extraordinary achievement,” Bianca said.

Adam Snelling from engineering was awarded the overall Workplace, Health, Safety and Environment Star Performer award for his leadership qualities and attention to detail when it comes to safety issues.

Adam said safety was always his number one priority and was proud to win the award.

“I always encourage people to follow safe operating procedures such as docking the boats correctly so that people don’t fall off, closing the hatch covers and putting out warning signs,” Adam said.

Riviera’s workplace, health and safety manager Cherriee Ludemann said Adam was a strong advocate for occupational, health, safety and environment on site at Riviera.

“Adam is a very proactive member of the safety committee.  He works hard on achieving compliance and sets high standards for himself and the rest of his shed which he then lives up to.  He is a great role model,” Cherriee said.

Both Ray and Adam outshone Riviera’s 400 staff when they were named overall Star Performer and WHS&E Star Performer of the year at Riviera’s annual Christmas Party held by the waterfront on December 16.

Cherriee said it was Ray and Adam’s ‘can do’ attitude that earned them these prestigious awards.

Apprentice Achievement Awards were presented to Jayden Anderson, 4th year boat builder; Adam Town, 4th year boat builder; and Ramsey Kanfani, 4th year electrical.

Human Resource manager Deanne Lugton said all the award recipients were great ambassadors for Riviera.

“The outstanding performance delivered by these individuals is a great example of employees who are committed to excellence and exceeding customer expectations,” Deanne said.

Riviera offers 20 different models from 36 to 85 feet across four model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht, Offshore Express and Motor Yachts.
