After two years of design, investment, development and hard work, the new Buizen 52 is now under sail.

Launched last month, the first new design and model from the Australian marque in 15 years recently completed sea trials and photography in a rare break in Sydney’s unseasonal weather.

Buizen Yachts’ managing director Steve Howe said he felt rewarded by the boat in its overall outcome and especially its performance.

“The word that sums it all up is – proud,” Mr Howe said.

“The new boat looks fantastic… it’s finished beautifully and the sailing performance is everything we anticipated and hoped it would be.

“It’s absolutely fulfilling and gratifying to see the completed boat on the water, with sails set… everything in the mind’s eye has been realised beyond expectation.”

The Buizen 52 pilothouse yacht is a bluewater cruiser designed to sail the world’s oceans with short-handed ease, luxurious comfort and safety.

Known for quality and cruising capability, Buizen Yachts’ legacy has been continued in the DNA of the new 52 – yet the new model has been built at the cutting-edge of yacht design and construction.

Using build methods including vacuum-infusion hull construction and CNC cutting technology, all supported by the latest in computer-aided design, the new Buizen 52 sets a new benchmark in luxury bluewater cruising yachts.

Designed by renowned Australian superyacht designers Anthony Starr Design and Peter Lowe Design and hand-built built in Sydney by superyacht-trained shipwrights, the new Buizen 52 is built with a blend of tradition and technology.

Mr Howe said the construction process was guided by Buizen’s core values, but was not much different from how a 50m+ superyacht was put together today.

“The marriage of traditional values with the most advanced techniques has been exciting and rewarding to watch come together,” Mr Howe said.

“The philosophy that Buizen brings to the art of yacht building has been enhanced as a result and we’re extremely proud of the outcome.

“This is a world-class yacht that epitomises the very best of Australian boat building and craftsmanship.”
