Stebercraft on Show at NSW Parliament House

Alan Steber recently represented Stebercraft and the Boating Industry by exhibiting in the Hunter Manufacturing and Engineering Showcase held in NSW Parliament House. As always Alan was able to represent the boating industry to many State Government Ministers.

The Hunter Showcase promoted the Hunter (including Taree) as a viable option for Government Tenders and business. Over 20 industry leaders represented railway rolling stock, civil engineering, defence, mining, boating, mining, electric and special vehicles, materials and chemical manufacturing.

Alan said “we are proud to represent the Taree region at the Hunter Manufacturing Showcase. It is a great way to see key manufacturers come together and develop networks to assist each other in the manufacturing sector. We are proud of what we do and are keen to invest in the communities within which we operate”.

Alan explained “that NSW Government decentralisation policies of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s helped boost the prosperity of regional centres, by re-locating government services out of the Sydney metropolitan area and by providing incentives for businesses to establish in regional areas, such as Stebercraft and Croker Oars- who located to Taree”. Today Stebercraft build vessels for the police, navy, NSW Marine Rescue and recreational cruisers.

BIA’s General Manager Roy Privett attended the Showcase and was impressed by the turnout and size of the manufacturing sector. He said “there are tremendous opportunities in the Hunter region for the Boating Industry with excellent waterfront opportunities, good transport networks, education institutions and established national and international markets. The Hunter represents a strong manufacturing base employing around 68,000 people”.

Alan was optimistic about the boating industries future in the Hunter and wasted no time in putting forward the industries case to the NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell.
