Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Riviera owner Jorge Amarillas was thrilled when he landed a rare 325 kilogram Black Marlin off the coast of the picturesque Banderas Bay in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The Riviera 48 Offshore Express owner was competing in the 2012 Torneo Internacional de Pesca La cruz de Huanacaxtle fishing tournament when he landed the prize catch which won him the tournament.

“In Puerto Vallarta we have many places to go fishing and we caught this Black Marlin 35 miles off the coast,” Jorge said.

“The sea conditions and weather was good and the fishing was excellent.  We caught a Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Marlin, and Tuna.”

Jorge said they chose the Riviera 48 Offshore Express because of its versatility and seakeeping ability as it can be used as both a fishing and family boat.

“We really love our Riviera and chose the 48 for its great use of space, powerful engines and fuel efficiency, which is great for fishing.

“Last year we competed in three tournaments and won them all, which was a great achievement.

“We also spend about one month a year in La Paz, which is a beautiful city about 300 miles from Puerto Vallarta.  There are many islands to explore and lots of interesting marine life such as whales and sea lions.  It is a great place for swimming and snorkeling and we often collect scallops and clams.”

The Riviera 48 Offshore Express is the perfect boat for Jorge and his family as they enjoy cruising and fishing, and the avid angler looks forward to landing his next prize catch.
