Exhibitor All4Solar presents the world launch of the Aquawatt, the world’s most powerful electric outboard motor.
All4Solar’s Dominic de Vries said the engine offers a unique and advanced environmentally-friendly electric drive producing an output of 30hp.
Aquawatt motors are built in Austria where restrictions on the use petrol engines on lakes have led to an increasing demand of advanced electric boat engines.
The new 30hp engine can achieve speeds of more than 50kmph (28 knots) with a four-metre boat. Mr de Vries said Aquawatt engines (both inboard and outboard) are based on reliable AC motors which produce a high thrust and operate almost maintenance free.
Dominic de Vries said electric motor advantages include avoidance of greenhouse or poisonous gas emissions, while improvements with battery technology allows for use of motors for longer distances including the combination of a solar system and diesel generator.
