Variety, the children’s charity, has announced a line-up of much-loved Australian Olympians, entertainers and high-profile marine industry leaders as celebrity ambassadors for the second annual Variety Splash.

President of Yachting Australia Andrew Plympton, Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Turnbull, TV personality Kelly Landry, industry leader Kevin Wood and entertainer Mike Brady make up the ambassador crew – all of whom are set to make a splash for Variety on the three-day / two-night fundraising voyage around Port Phillip Bay 26-28 February 2009.

Variety CEO Norm Hutton said he was thrilled the Splash had attracted the support of high-profile community leaders.

“The ambassadors for the 2009 Variety Splash will play an important role in drawing attention to and promoting the event and also the valuable work Variety carries out,” Mr Hutton said.

Channel 9 personality and Getaway reporter Kelly Landry is returning for her second year as a Splash ambassador and is looking forward to sharing a fun-filled weekend with both experienced Splashers and new recruits.

“Fundraising events like the Splash and what Variety does for the community are so worthwhile,” Ms Landry said.

“I had an absolute ball last year – climbing masts, spinning the coffee grinders and dancing the night away at the evening functions, so I am delighted to be able to help out again and spread the word.”

Over 20 boats and crews participated in the inaugural Variety Splash earlier this year, helping to raise around $130,000 and fund a wheelchair accessible school bus for some of Victoria’s Special Needs Children.
