In a coup for the Brisbane Boat Show, Australian cricket star and avid fisherman Andrew Symonds has signed on as official ambassador of the 2009 Brisbane Boat Show, which docks at the Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre August 27-30.

Symonds will be on deck this Saturday 29 August to share his top fishing tips, meet and greet fans, answer audience questions and sign autographs.

Adding to the celebrity line-up is world champion wakeboarder and Australian Pro Tour champion Daniel Watkins who will wow the audience with spectacular stunts on the largest indoor water circuit ever assembled in Australia.

Event organiser Jason Plant said he was excited to have two world champion sports stars together under the one roof.

“I think having sporting celebrities of this calibre on board really highlights the diversity of the show – it’s not just about boats, we have everything marine and something for the whole family,” Mr Plant said.

Mr Plant said he was conscious of the recent economic volatility and was determined to maintain low ticket prices and offer even more value for money with two-day discounted passes, and free entry for children under the age of 15.

Famous for being the ultimate family day out the Boat Show offers something for the whole family with expert demonstrations, free activities, competitions and giveaways and celebrity chef demonstrations.

The dedicated Kids Marine Zone features free rock climbing, learn to fish lessons and other educational activities to keep children safe and entertained.

Highlights will include educational sessions on crossing coastal bars on Thursday 27 August at 7:45am, learning to fish from kayaks at 12:00pm on Friday 28 August and the annual final weigh in on Sunday 30 August at 2:45pm.
