The 2011 IJSBA World Finals were held last week at the home of personal watercraft (PWC) racing, Lake Havasu, Arizona. In front of 7,000 fans on the final day, Sea-Doo racers put on a show to take out 11 World Championships, including the premier Pro Open Runabout class with Great Britain’s James Bushell riding a RXP-X 260 prepared by Australian Les Cooke.

The championships organized by the IJSBA (International Jet Sports & Boating Association) marked the 30th anniversary since it’s inception with an international field comprising of 804 world class competitors. Australia and New Zealand were represented by 2011 Australian National Pro-Open Runabout champion James Masterton and the 2010 IJSBA Pro-Am Women Runabout champion Kylie Ellmers.

“With 804 committed competitors and 7,000 plus spectators converging on Lake Havasu for the World Titles it demonstrates the passion that can be generated from the fun of riding a PWC and the excitement that PWC racing can provide” said BRP Australia’s Marketing Manager Kym Pardey. “For Sea-Doo to take out not only the feature race (Pro-Open Runabout) of the titles but another 10 championships proves that Sea-Doo PWCs are in a class of their own.”

With the 2011 North American season now finished attention will turn to the Australian summer with club racing
