Stabicraft Marine has released its all new and innovative 1850 Supercab at the recent New Zealand Boat Show, scooping the ‘All Purpose’ Under 6m’ award on the same weekend.
Not only was the innovation of the new model a hit with the judges, Stabicraft received 8 confirmed orders for the 1850 Supercab over the boat show period
“We think we’ve nailed it, it’s a boat that can be towed easily and has everything a serious fisherman and his family wants all with the comfort of a Supercab and the quality and dependability of Stabicraft,” says Tim van Duyl, Stabicraft Marine’s Marketing Co-ordinator.
The Stabicraft 1850 Supercab is a smaller boat with big boat features. The cockpit feels a lot larger than you would expect from a 5.6m boat and it fishes accordingly. It is safe and stable at rest and yet rides softly, providing a great platform for a family day on the water.
The new 1850 Supercab carry’s Stabicraft’s Game Chaser Transom™. It features a profiled transom to deflect water around the transom reducing drag, enhancing reversing speed and all-important manoeuvrability when trying to land that prized fish at the next tournament.
Reminiscent of the ever popular Superfish Transom the topside of the transom features a centrally mounted 66L live bait tank with glass screen and integrated filleting board lid and rod holders.
On either side of the bait station are fold up corner seats, these spaces have been purposefully designed to be comfortable fishing spots giving great casting access around the stern and sides of the boat as well as needed seating for the family or when needing a rest.
The gunnels are raised and widened offering comfort and safety in rough seas and feature 4 alloy rod holders as standard. Cabin height is generous at 1.90m floor to ceiling and the front screen is a curved single piece 6mm armoured glass screen giving unparalleled visibility with no intrusive pillars in scratch resistant glass, a first in its class. Also standard from the factory is a fitted Maxwell capstan winch.
The 1850 Supercab also features Stabicraft’s dedicated Dump Zone™ under the all aluminium cabin. The Dump Zone™ comes as either a bulkhead to throw gear behind or a fully upholstered base ready for the kids to take a short break from the fishing action.
“Further innovation can be seen in changes to the pontoon design. By angling back where the shoulders meet the sides, we have reduced the amount of contact area between the pontoons and water when coming off waves softening the ride. Visually this change has also advanced the angular and aggressive look of the 1850 Supercab.”
Powered by a Yamaha 90hp 2-stroke outboard, the 1850 Supercab can achieve an impressive 61kph. Powered by an 115hp outboard, the 1850 Supercab will top out at a hefty 71kph. Combined with modern 4-stroke technology and the standard under floor 120L fuel tank, the 1850 Supercab has capable offshore range.
