Bavaria 32 Cruiser launches in NSW and QLD Saturday 20 February

The new Bavaria Cruiser 32 will be introduced to the Australian yachting public on 20 February 2010 in NSW and QLD simultaneously!

The first Cruiser 32 was handed over in Pittwater this week and the NSY team got a chance to sail her for the first time. We were not disappointed! As you would expect from a Farr designed yacht, she sails like a rocket. With a steady 15kts of breeze the conditions were perfect for the first trial. Heading upwind the close-hauled angle was easily above 35 degrees and she managed a very tidy 6.3kts. Cracking off to beam/broad reach she climbed to 7.6kts and reached a very impressive 6.5kts dead downwind.
 
Overall she felt very balanced and responsive and was delightful to trim. The Cruiser 32 will be ideal for cruising families while being equally rewarding for the race-a-cruiser twilight brigade. And with Ocean Category A rating as standard, she’s more than capable of coastal passage making and longer journeys.

Designed by Farr Yacht Design and BMW Designworks USA, the new model comes with a huge number of benefits and features. The first thing to hit you is the immensity of the cockpit (actual cockpit space is closer to a 34’ yacht than a 32). The bathing platform is, frankly, staggering. Gas-strut assisted hinges make it light and easy to operate and three full-grown adults can comfortably stand on it together. New flush deck hatches provide a modern yet practical aesthetic.
 
Internally the yacht is extremely well appointed with two good sized double berths, good headroom, spacious saloon, large galley and the biggest head/shower we have ever seen on a modern 32’ yacht (it’s a full stand-up shower that you don’t have to pull out of the sink!). Options include alternative interior colour finishes, in-mast roller furling mainsail, high-tech sails, self-tacking jib, electronics, canvas and many more.

The Sail Away price for the Cruiser 32 is $180,000.
