High-performance marine electronics brand B&G is to supply Gunboat catamarans with sailing and navigation instruments as standard-fit for its new 55’ and 60’ models.
Gunboat catamarans are high-performance cruising catamarans that cruise at 15-20kt and reach top speeds in excess of 30kts, routinely achieving massive 300nm to 400nm days.
B&G’s top-of-the-line instrumentation has been developed for Grand Prix race boats and sailing superyachts and is perfectly suited to yachts of Gunboats’ calibre.
The 55 and 60 series will be fitted with a comprehensive suite of B&G gear including three C-Zone integrated Zeus Z12 multifunction displays, H3000 central processing unit, 3G Broadband Radar, autopilot, AIS, B&G Deckman software and 20/20 large format displays.
Gunboat CEO and founder Peter Johnstone said B&G was a perfect fit with Gunboats.
“Gunboats are designed by the world’s foremost performance multihull designers, without compromise,” Mr Johnstone said.
“Our philosophy is to build Gunboats to round-the-world racing standards using the same technology and materials, so to fit the best performance instruments is a logical choice.
B&G’s Zeus multifunction display is a fully-integrated, high-performance navigation system with a bright, sunlight viewable display featuring unique and dedicated sailing functions.
The high-specification Z12 display comes with impressive features specific to sailing navigation, including GRIB weather file display and animation and chart overlays displaying sailing lay-lines and WindPlot and TimePlot histograms.
The powerful Zeus system integrates seamlessly with data from B&G H3000 instruments, GPS, 3G Broadband Radar and AIS.
Using innovative C-Zone digital switching technology, it is also possible to control and monitor almost any system on the boat from the Zeus display. Lights, bilge pumps and tank levels are among the functions that can be operated, monitored and adjusted at the touch of a button.
Navico Asia-Pacific Director of Sales and Marketing Doug Anderson said he was very impressed with the Gunboat facilities in China and with the boats themselves.
“Gunboats are the perfect cruising catamaran… uncompromised performance that’s a result of high-tech design and manufacturing,” Mr Anderson said.
“B&G instruments are ideally suited to this kind of vessel and we’re looking forward to the launch of the new models later this year.”
