Luxury boat builder Maritimo has further strengthened its Dealer network with the appointment of one of Australia’s best-known names in leisure marine, Noel Leigh-Smith in Queensland.
The move follows recent appointments in Sydney and in the US where super-dealer Galati Yacht Sales now represents Maritimo in the south-east.
Noel-Leigh Smith and his team will be based at Runaway Bay and at Marina Mirage at the southern end of the Gold Coast Broadwater.
“I have a long association with Runaway Bay,” said Mr Leigh-Smith. “My family built the marina in 1979.”
He began working in the industry as an outboard engine mechanic in 1964 when he was still in his mid-teens. He began his sales career in 1972, selling early Mariner models for Bill Barry-Cotter, now head of Maritimo.
Mr Leigh-Smith said: “I have joined the Maritimo organisation simply because Bill Barry-Cotter is the leader in our industry. He is always thinking and planning for new and better products that are well suited to the market.
“The range of new models scheduled for release this year alone is exciting and perfectly timed for the resurgent growth in the industry.”
According to Luke Durman, Marketing Director at Maritimo: “Noel Leigh-Smith has sold more cruising boats than virtually anyone in Queensland. His knowledge of our industry is extraordinary and he and his team will be a major asset to Maritimo.”
