From the same family as the award-winning BR24 and the pioneering Broadband 3G, Navico’s new Broadband 4G™ Radar is set to forever change marine navigation.
Available across the Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G brands, Navico’s latest FMCW radar boasts a huge 36nm range, unmatched resolution and clutter reduction to deliver a crystal clear image, extremely low emissions (less than 1/5 than that from a mobile phone), InstantOn technology and low power consumption, along with simple installation and incredible ease of use.
Forgetting everything you thought you knew about radar, Broadband 4G Radar reinvents the standard with Beam Sharpening, Target Separation Control, Dual Range Radar and high-revolution speed – features that will transform the way you navigate for good.
Broadband 4G is the first dome radar in the world to use Beam Sharpening, a technology that significantly improves the azimuth resolution – or effective horizontal beam width of the radar – to provide the best target resolution of any dome radar available.
Target Separation Control allows users to adjust the levels of target separation according to their needs and, thanks to Beam Sharpening, can provide resolution up to the equivalent of a 1m open array radar.
Dual Range Radar is possible when Broadband 4G is combined with, for example, the Simrad NSE. Displaying dual range radar combinations from a single scanner, boaters also benefit from revolution speeds up to 48rpm. No other recreational radar in the world can display dual range from 60m (200ft) to 36nm in a single dome – offering the benefit of monitoring a buoy at close quarters, while simultaneously keeping track of coastal projections at 36nm away.
Broadband 4G Dual Range Radar operation also allows up to 10 MARPA targets in each split radar screen with independent controls – for a total of 20 tracked targets.
Pre-defined ‘Offshore’ and ‘Harbour’ modes provide hands-off operation on all ranges without the need for special knowledge or radar tuning, giving most boaters the confidence of a highly-trained radar user.
Incorporating all the features of its predecessors the BR24 and Broadband 3G, along with these latest technological breakthroughs, Navico’s Broadband 4G clearly marks the birth of yet another revolution in marine navigation and signals the death of the traditional magnetron pulse radar.
