Sydney boaters are needed for a great cause – to help put a smile on the faces of children battling cancer and their parents.

Luxury boat dealer SBM Maritimo Sydney has joined forces with the Cure Our Kids Foundation to organise its Cruise For A Cure on Sunday, February 27 next year.

“We are calling on everyone with a boat over about 30 feet to help give these young people a great experience,” said SBM Maritimo Dealer Principal Steve Batton.

“Our plan is to have boats both on the Harbour and on the Pittwater take the children and their parents out for a few hours,” he said.

“Platinum Concierge is kindly offering hamper lunches for every boat and we will have a sausage sizzle on our marinas at the end of the cruise.”

Mr Batton said the idea is to allow the children to decide what they want to do for the day.

“The boat owner will ask the families on the day where they would like to go and what they would like to see. Kids might want to go for a fish, swim, see the harbour bridge or just explore the bays. We don’t want to put constraints on these children. It is their day.”

Mr Batton said the Cruise would also aim to raise funds for the Foundation by offering boat sponsorships.

“We have Platinum, Silver and Bronze Sponsorship opportunities,” he said. “Corporations prepared to donate $1,000 or more will be able to display banners on selected boats. We also encourage individuals to donate $500 for our Bronze packages.”
