Imagine my surprise when I woke up on the 1st June to find a 292 metre long Cargo ship with 3 tugs attached being manoeuvred right out the front of Darling Island and Jones Bay Wharf.
There’s a fair amount of commercial traffic still in Sydney harbour but mostly PO cruisers docking at Millers Point are the highlight of the view from the balcony.
If you look at the photo’s you can see one of the PO cruisers in the background as Geosand Max is positioned to head out to sea.
Apparently she’s headed to Newcastle so I’m not sure why she stopped in Sydney as there’s no Coal loading facilities here.
Maybe they got distracted Whale watching and thought a visit to Sydney would be a break from lying at anchor waiting to load coal at Newcastle.
