When Nautilus Marine signed on to sponsor the popular annual NSW Game Fishing Club Interclub tournament, they never expected that they would win their own prize.

So, Camp Quality became the welcome beneficiary of the sponsorship cash. Camp Quality is a wonderful organisation dedicated to supporting families of children with cancer.

Fishing on board a chartered game boat, the Force from Port Stephens Nautilus Marine CEO Lyndon Turner, together with a collection of invited business associates, registered to compete in the 50th annual Billfish Challenge.

Over the two days of offshore fishing, the Nautilus Marine boat tagged and released two Marlin on the first day, then five on the second. This proved to be the winning tally.

“As naming right sponsors of the annual NSWGFA Interclub tournament we are always more than happy to participate in the mid week Billfish comp,” said Lyndon Turner.

“The Interclub event, and sponsoring of the mid week Billfish Challenge, is a way for Nautilus Marine to support the game fishing fraternity. The Billfish Challenge is a great opportunity for us to participate at a level that’s comfortable for us and our invited business associates.”

Winning their own event was never a consideration. So when the Nautilus Marine team returned to Port Stephens and found that their crew on board the Force was the winning team, everyone was pretty happy with the two days of fishing.

After deducting costs for the running of the boat, and grateful thanks to the skipper, Shane Wilson and crew on board the chartered boat the Force, Lyndon Turner decided that the entire balance of the prize money of $2,500 should be paid directly to Camp Quality.

“It is always gratifying to make a cash donation to charity, so we are delighted to have sent off our $2500 share to Camp Quality,” said Lyndon Turner.

“From every angle Nautilus Marine has had a successful landmark 50th anniversary Interclub tournament. The tag and release event is just an amazing event. We’ve again leant our support to the sport of game fishing in Australia and along the way made a sizeable donation to Camp Quality.”

“It doesn’t get much better than this.”
