Cruising tropical Queensland’sWhitsunday Islands from the helm of your own charter boat is an experience of a lifetime – yet realising dreams is all in a day’s work for bareboat specialist Whitsunday Rent A Yacht (WRAY).

WRAY will showcase its skipper-yourself holidays, investment opportunities for boat owners and run an online Live Deals auction – where holiday makers can bid for a bargain holiday on a featured vessel – at this year’s Sydney International Boat Show at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and Cockle Bay Marina, Darling Harbour, Sydney from August 1-5.

WRAY has been matching holidaymakers wanting to experience the spectacular vistas and inviting warm waters of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef with an impressive selection of vessels since it was established in 1978.

WRAY offers more than 20 vessels for year ‘round charter including elite and standard yachts, catamarans and motor cruisers. The fleet mixes the world’s most recognised brands, such as classic Beneteau Lagoons, Bavarias and Jeanneaus with Australian favourites, Seawinds and Perrys. It also has some of the best, most reliable brands in motor cruisers such as Highland, Fairway and Venturer. All are fitted with the latest equipment for comfort, convenience and safety. With five Beneteau Lagoons –more than any other operator in the region –WRAY is the home of Whitsunday Lagoon.

For groups of eight to 10, WRAY’s 43ft Beneteaus provide spacious accommodation in private cabins. Catamarans such as a Beneteau Lagoon 380, 400 or 420, or a Perry 43 are perfect for groups of eight, providing various options including private cabins and separate ensuite facilities. Smaller catamarans such as a Jeanneau 35 suit families or couples while easy handling motor cruisers are ideal for those with little or no sailing experience. Charters range from four nights to a fortnight, with longer stays possible. With vessels accommodating from two to 10, accommodation is matched to group sizes and budgets.

WRAY is the only charter boat company in the Whitsundays to offer Live Deals on bareboat holidays – an online auction where charterers can bid for a short-notice getaway aboard a WRAY vessel and get up to 60 per cent off. Vessel accommodation ranges from the budget to the luxury and offers are updated regularly.

Skipper-yourself holidays are perfect for the Whitsundays where just eight of the area’s 74 islands are inhabited including the resort islands of Hayman, Hamilton and Daydream. The WRAY team – all local area experts – can help plan itineraries to take in deserted islands, picture-postcard white-sand beaches, overnight stays in secluded inlets or point out the best spots to island-hop, swim, dive, snorkel, fish, watch humpback whales or catch the resort night life action.

WRAY is the longest-operating, Australian-owned skipper-yourself charter company in the Whitsundays. It is the only operator in the region to have its own private jetty at Shute Harbour, one of the safest and largest natural harbours in the area. The jetty provides easy access and allows charterers to acquaint themselves with their vessel and the area in tranquil surrounds.

WRAY’s spacious, air-conditioned facilities include modern serviced amenities, internet access and a convenience shop. On site are mechanics, skippers (available to accompany parties with little or no experience), shipwrights and reservations staff.

An area and onboard briefing is held prior to departure, scheduled twice-daily calls and radio contact with WRAY’s base ensure charterers are fully equipped to experience an unforgettable holiday. A finalist in two categories in the 2012 Whitsunday Tourism Awards, WRAY was also among those businesses nominated in the inaugural People’s Choice award.
