Cummins
Exhibitor Cummins is displaying the QSB5.9-480hp, the QSC8.3-600hp and the QSM11-715hp Zeus models at Sanctuary Cove.
The company will be promoting the fact that these three Zeus models are available in triple and quadruple configurations.
The new engines and multiple configurations mean the Zeus 3000 series technology, complete with joystick control, autopilot and Skyhook® station keeping, covers a range from a total installed power of 710hp (2 x QSB5.9, 355hp) through to a whopping 2860hp (4 x QSM11, 715hp).
Engine ranges thus can be applicable for small sportfish boats and cruisers up to fast yachts approaching 100ft. The company has also added to its Zeus 3000 series lineup with an expansion to include the GSM11-litre engines at 715hp, currently Cummins MerCruiser Diesel’s (CMD) largest and most powerful engine.
CMD has an innovative Zeus pod-drive system, which offers the best features of inboards with the benefit of joystick control at slow speeds.
The joystick controls the drive-by-wire steering, throttle and shifting in an intuitive manner, so simple hand movements are translated into vectored thrust and complex boat manoeuvres. Zeus pods are tunnel mounted, so the pods are largely shielded from debris in the water by the hull of the boat.
