Luxury motoryacht builder Elandra Yachts has completed the first major stage in development of its first model, the Elandra 5 sports yacht.
The plugs for the deck, hardtop and liners were completed this week and the team is preparing for the next major stage to complete the hull as they work toward launch in July next year.
The hardtop was removed and final painting began to prepare the hardtop and deck for moulding.
“There was great excitement in the shed as everyone could finally stand back and see the final form and shape of what the boat will be,” said Elandra Managing Director Luke Durman. “The team has worked brilliantly and we remain on track for launch mid 2014.”
Many of the small parts are also ready for moulding.
Work on moulds for the hardtop and deck will begin over the next week. When the deck mould is complete, the entire hull and deck – with deck mould in place – will be rolled for the hull plug to be painted in preparation for its mould.
“All moulds will be completed just after the Christmas break,” Durman explained.
The Elandra 5 is a semi-custom sports yacht, designed with three cabins and two bathrooms below decks.
The main deck takes indoor-outdoor living to a new level. With saloon doors open, the no-step single level entertaining area comprises a spacious galley, six-seat dinette and a large cockpit aft with an eight-seat cockpit lounge-dinette. The twin seat helm is forward of the entertaining area on the starboard side with a five-seat forward-facing lounge to port.
