Fairline Boats, a luxury motor yacht manufacturer, introduced the latest addition to the Targa express cruiser range with the world launch of the spacious three cabin, two en-suite Fairline Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO at the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show in January 2011.  It will be rolled out across Australasia over the coming months.

The Fairline design team continues to raises the bar with up-to-the-minute exterior styling, interior layout and technology with its Targa range.  This latest model includes many of the features and design cues seen on the Targa 58 GRAN TURISMO, which was launched at last year’s Show.

Key features of the all-new Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO include panoramic windows and extensive glazing throughout the boat.  The large, light-filled master cabin provides as much space as that seen on a typical 60-footer, all within a 50-foot hull length.  The galley and saloon areas can be transformed into an open-air living space, as the powered roof glides open.  A top-hinged window opens up the galley and saloon area into the cockpit for al-fresco dining.

Another major feature is the optional Fairline Tender Launch System, designed for personal watercraft up to the size and weight of a Williams 325 Jet RIB. This revolutionary system assists owners in launching and retrieving their tender in and out of the water.

When powered 2 x Volvo Penta D9-575 EVC Shaft Diesel engines, the anticipated top speed is 30 knots*. When powered by 2 x Volvo Penta D11-670 EVC Shaft Diesel engines, the anticipated top speed is 32 knots*.

The launch price of the Fairline Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO starts from £525,000 excluding local taxes, when powered by 2 x Volvo Penta D9-575 EVC Diesel engines.

Extensive details of the Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO are annexed to this press release.

Exterior Details

The stern platform includes the innovative, patent-pending optional Fairline Tender Launch system, designed for personal watercraft up to the size and weight of a Williams 325 Jet RIB. This revolutionary system assists owners in launching and retrieving their tender in and out of the water. The aft deck also includes a bathing platform ladder for sea access and a hot and cold water transom shower.

The twin transom gates lead to the self-draining aft-cockpit, which is teak-laid throughout. The seating accommodates up to six people and has an adjustable, rotating backrest. The cockpit table can be easily be converted to sunbed (includes cushions). A powered aft sunshade option provides protection for the seating area. A bar unit is positioned opposite and portside of the patio door. There is deck level lighting and stowage for a liferaft. An aft cockpit hood with clear panels and zipped doorway is also included.

A three-stage patio door connects the aft cockpit to the saloon, providing open space from the galley area through to the transom.

The space has been utilised on the foredeck to include conveniently placed drinks holders, lockers and stowage for secondary liferaft. Coachroof cushions provide the perfect setting for relaxing.

Interior details

This latest model maintains all the charm of the Targa heritage with its classic line, whilst capturing a contemporary feel throughout the exterior and interior of the boat. Fairline’s in-house design department has specially selected a comprehensive choice of co-ordinated carpets and upholsteries. The handcrafted joinery is finished in Oak satin timber with quartz gloss as standard. Air conditioning and heating systems can be fitted throughout the accommodation if required. White mood lighting to the main saloon, galley and cabins is available as an option.

Saloon and galley areas

Owners can transform the single level living and galley space into an open-air space as the GRAN TURISMO roof and the optional top-hinged window will open up the deck saloon and galley area. When the roof is closed, the skylight allows light to fill the living space.

Large panoramic windows run port and starboard side, allowing light to fill the interior space, whether at the sink (with chopping board to sink infill) or food preparation area.

The galley includes a microwave combi oven, electric ceramic/halogen hob with extractor fan and twin-drawer refrigerator. Storage space is provided by cupboards and drawers as well as dedicated crockery stowage. The 24 piece Fairline Edition dinner white melamine dinner service is very durable and is suitable for outside use, making it ideal for dining from the galley through to the cockpit. Facing the galley is the deck saloon dining seating area with width and height adjustable table. A sideboard includes a pop-up 22” LCD TV and DVD/CD/MP3 audio system. Galley and saloon lighting is overhead.

Helm station

The helm station includes independent helm and co-pilot seats and there is an adjustable/tilt steering wheel. The full engine instrumentation is within easy reach and includes tachometers, temperature gauges, audible alarms and engine hour meters. Other features include Garmin GMI 10 digital multi-function instrument system with colour display, Garmin VHF 300i marine radio, chart table, conveniently placed drinks holders and night lighting. A chaise-longue seat is portside of the helm position.
