Finally – Better Boating in Drummoyne

Home»Boating News»Finally – Better Boating in Drummoyne

An extended boat ramp and new pontoon was officially opened yesterday at Taplin Park, Drummoyne by The Hon. Paul Mcleay NSW Minister for Ports and Waterways, Ms Angela D’Amore MP Labour Member for Drummoyne and Mayor of Canada Bay Angelo Tsirekas.

It’s been a long time in the planning.  Over 5 years in fact since this was first lobbied for by the former Member for Drummoyne, The Hon. John Murray in response to requests from the local fishing groups and recreational users of the facility.  Matt Cummings of Sea Tow, based locally at Gladesville Bridge Marina along with Angela D’Amore and Paul Mcleay, has also been involved in the Lobbying process since 2004 helping to source pontoon designs that would best suit the existing facilities.

The pontoon has been funded through the State Governments Better Boating programme and additional funding of over $700,000.00 was announced yesterday to further upgrade the parking and turning facilities at the ramp.  There are 35km of waterfront in the Canada Bay Electorate and the plans are in place to upgrade the other local ramp facilities in addition to a major $5.3 million dollar upgrade to the Drummoyne Oval.

So if the worst part of your boating experience has been the nerve-wracking experience of getting your boat safely on and off the trailer, keeping property, limbs and meaningful relationships intact, look no further than Drummoyne as your day just got a whole lot easier.
