Melbourne Chaparral owners have taken advantage of the record heat wave over the last few weeks to get together for a raft up in Beaumaris Bay.
Dubbed “Chapnanigans” by the Happy Chappies social club, Chaparral owners regularly get together for a catch up and to meet other boat owners throughout the year. “It always surprises us how many Chaparralian’s respond to a last minute call when a weather window opens up on the bay” says Jo Manthey; the Victorian Chaparral Social club president. “We organise all sorts of events such as dinners at Docklands, raftup’s & river cruises. We have a great network of like minded owners who enjoy each other’s company and especially enjoy their boating” She says.
“The latest raft up had a large cross-section of boats from a 420 Premiere, Signature cruisers, a 327SSx and a bunch of smaller bowriders and H2o’s; The guys from Chaparral Australia provided a 196SSi and driver to tow tubes and skiers around all day, so it was a fun day for the kids as well, especially for some of the big kids who were seriously challenged on the ski tube!”
