Over 1,500 participating exhibitors, an estimated 2,500 boats on display, hundreds of new products on preview and more than 300 thousand visitors expected at the Show.
These are the figures of Genoa 48th International Boat Show, which was presented today in Milan by the Show’s organisers, Fiera di Genova and UCINA (the Italian Marine Industry Association), and which will be held in Genoa from the 4th to the 12th October.
The overall growth of the Show is also confirmed by the over 600 boats on display in the water – approximately one hundred more than in 2007 – along 30 quays, as well as the extension of the visitor pathways overlooking the sea, which will reach a length of 9 kilometres overall this year.
The number of new products on display is impressive too, with a stunning 600 new products only among boats, recording a 40% rise on last year’s figure. The 2008 Boat Show flagships will be two “pearls” of Italian production: the 53-metre “Gitana” by Baglietto among power boats and the 45-metre “Heritage”by Perini Navi among sailing boats.
An unmissable part of the show for professional visitors (who accounted for 23% of all visitors in 2007) is TechTrade, a “show within the Show” to which the entire Pavilion C has been devoted (28 thousand square metres) and which proposes over 600 brands of components and accessories for pleasure boating in a special, dedicated area. Inboard-outboard and outboard engines and naval mechanical components will be located on the ground floor. On the 6th and 7th October, TechTrade will be specifically devoted to b2b meetings between marine industry operators. New features this year include on-line accreditation for invited operators and a more functional and user-friendly sign system.
For the first time ever, Genoa International Boat Show will offer the city and all visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand sailing and life at sea, thanks to a basin where small sailing boats and canoes can be tried out, set up in cooperation with Genoa City Council and Porto Antico S.p.A. During the nine days of the Show, the Piazza delle Feste at the Porto Antico (the Old Port) will be converted into a Sea Stadium, in line with the philosophy promoted by the “Navigar m’è dolce” project by Ucina.
The new site of the Show, www.genoaboatshow.com is being constantly updated. The site will feature the on-line show catalogue, previews of the products on display, all news and information regarding accommodation and tourist services in town, useful links, and the opportunity to buy tickets on-line. Besides providing useful information, as of this year the site will also be an important communication tool between the organisers and the exhibitors, allowing for an easier management of documents and services.
