HEART TRANSPLANT FOR RIVIERA’S ORIGINAL SPORT YACHT

Riviera has unveiled the latest of its European-style Sport Yacht series with an updated version of the model that began the revolution – the 3600 Sport Yacht.

This new Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht has undergone a major revision with the introduction of Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, giving the Riviera designers an opportunity to revisit and redesign the accommodation space on board the boat.

Internally, the major change is a large aft cabin that runs across the full beam of the boat, similar to its cousins, the 4400 Sport Yacht and, more recently, the 43 Offshore Express.

Riviera’s designers have taken full advantage of the extra space available by using the Volvo Penta IPS system in creating the aft cabin with two berths – a single and a large double.

The double berth hinges up to reveal a large storage space underneath.

A cedar lined hanging locker with automatic lighting is located between the two beds.

Large mirrors fitted to the aft bulkhead add extra dimension and style to the stateroom.

The Volvo Penta IPS system is an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, forward facing propellers. This system offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking. Volvo Penta IPS also offers up to 30 percent better fuel consumption than traditional shaft drive systems.

Externally, the most striking change is bonded glass windows each side of the hull that add natural light into the full beam aft cabin.

This two cabin/one bathroom cruiser exudes style and is packed with all the modern conveniences you would expect from a Riviera, making it the ultimate in lifestyle-orientated vessels.

The Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht set the lifestyle standard that has been developed on subsequent 4700 and 4400 Sport Yacht models, most notably the al fresco lifestyle concepts built into the pillarless wide stainless steel hopper window and aft bulkhead door. When opened, space flows freely between cockpit and saloon.

Another significant change offers more flexibility in the cockpit. The standard layout is an open cockpit with room to set up a table and casual folding chairs. Optionally, a lounge runs across the transom behind a folding teak table with high/low pedestal to convert to a sun lounge. . A stainless steel refrigerator is built into the port side of the cockpit.

The cockpit floor opens up by means of an electric actuator for easy access to the engines. A smaller access hatch in the forward area of the cockpit serves for general inspections.

A storage locker, accessed from the swim platform, is built into the rear of the transom for fenders and owner’s gear.

A sun pad with rails and drink holders is fitted to the foredeck and includes a cover for protection when not in use.

Sliding side windows and hatches in the sunroof combine with the pillarless aft bulkhead window and door to give interior space in the 3600 Sport Yacht a very light, airy and spacious feel.

Joinery throughout is the highest grade American Cherry timber, finished in multiple coats of high gloss polyurethane varnish applied by Riviera’s robotic varnish system.

A sumptuous leather lounge runs the length of the saloon on the port side while the helm and galley are positioned to starboard.

A liquor cabinet with drawers is forward of the lounge, below the entertainment system that includes an electric lift 22-inch LCD TV integrated with an AM/FM stereo, CD/DVD player with two speakers to the saloon with an additional two speakers to the cockpit.

The galley layout features plenty of cupboards and drawers, above and below bench for storage as well as a convection microwave oven and a stainless steel front-opening refrigerator with a freezer compartment.

High quality Amtico flooring has been used throughout the saloon and galley for aesthetics and practicality.

Air conditioning is standard to the saloon and galley areas.

The windscreen itself is made of curved toughened glass in a GRP frame and includes two heavy-duty pantograph windscreen wipers with washers. Side windows are tinted toughened glass, the front pane sliding to open or close.

The helm console is ergonomically designed so that all critical navigation equipment and controls are within easy reach. Visibility of all electronics, including comprehensive engine instrumentation and vessel controls, is excellent.  A high quality timber sports steering wheel completes the helm. A high backed leather helm seat is fitted. Moulded footrests with teak inlays are fitted for comfort.

The master stateroom on board the 3600 Sport Yacht is equipped with a queen walk around island berth complete with inner spring mattress. Storage drawers are under the berth.

There is a large hanging locker to the starboard of the stateroom and fully shelved locker to port. Both are cedar lined to keep clothing fresh. Large pigeon lockers outboard of the bed add extra room for storage.

A large square deck hatch with Mk 5 OceanAir blind is fitted to the deck head and features a two-way flyscreen and block-out blind for privacy.

A 15” LCD TV and DVD package can be added to the Master stateroom and aft cabin as an option.

The bathroom, with entry from the master stateroom and companionway, features a solid surface benchtop with a contemporary style glass bowl sink. There is a mirrored vanity cabinet above the benchtop and a storage locker below and a Vacuflush toilet. A frameless glass door leads to the large shower stall with a non-slip tile pattern floor. It includes a satin finished chrome shower pole and shower head on a slide bar. Flooring (excluding the shower stall) is in high quality Amtico. An overhead deck hatch is fitted with Mk 5 OceanAir blinds.
