Improved IRC services for Australian boat owners
 
Yachting Australia is pleased to announce improvements in service to boat owners by consolidating the administration of IRC in Australia from 1 June 2009.
 
For a more consistent delivery of IRC administrative services, Yachting Australia has introduced a streamlined approach for the handling of IRC applications and delivery of certificates for boat owners, improving delivery of certificates for upcoming events and regattas.
 
Boat owners will continue to contact their local IRC measurer directly about applying for IRC rating certificates, technical matters and the conduct of measurement activities, and the administrative changes may remain largely unseen by the boat owner.
 
Behind the network of IRC measurers Yachting Australia have a team of three people administering IRC, consisting of Bob Chapman, Susan Veal and Glen Stanaway.
 
Any future enquiries about application procedures, contact details for measurers, copy certificates, TCC lists or costs may be directed to the Yachting Australia office.
 
Due to the improvements in administration procedures, IRC certification fees will remain unchanged for the 2009 IRC year which begins on 1 June 2009, and for many boat owners prices will even reduce with the removal of state administration levies that were being applied in some cases.
 
Yachting Australia would also like to take this opportunity to remind boat owners of the upcoming IRC Owners forums to be held in Sydney at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron on 18 April and in Melbourne at the Sandringham Yacht Club on 22 April.  
 
Hosted by Malcolm Runnalls; Yachting Australia’s Chief IRC Measurer and Mike Irwin; RORC Rating Office Technical Director, the forums will cover general information about measurement, the fundamentals of IRC and will address common questions about changing ratings, the impact of hull factors and whether boats can truly be optimised for IRC.
