DESCRIPTION

1985 Cavalier 45 now for sale exclusively with DBY Boat Sales.

This Cavalier 45 Centre Cockpit offshore sloop rigged mast head cutter has been designed by the legend Laurie Davidson to perform well and keep you completely safe at the same time.

Exotic Escort (so named because she will escort you to exotic places) has had just two careful owners, each of whom have done quality offshore cruising with her.

She is a sea kindly vessel with an excellent pedigree and has proven herself time and time again from fast passage making to a comfortable live aboard.

Designed by a race winning America’s Cup legend and built in New Zealand at a time when no expense was spared, her solid build and large volume is combined with superb sailing ability and will not disappoint her new owner.

Accommodation is possible for up to 9 people and the aft cabin with its private ensuite and electric head is an absolute gem. The forward V berth is generous in size and lies close to the second enclosed electric head which is a perfect layout for two couples sharing the boat and wanting some privacy and segregation. There is a sensational pilot berth amidships for passage making.

The high-quality interior fitout is New Zealand Mahogany with generous 6'6 headroom throughout. The deck hatches provide large volumes of natural light and ventilation.

Sail handling is where she really shines as the furling boom mainsail with infinite reefing is a joy to operate. The standing rigging was fully replaced in 2013 and the Doyle main was added in 2014. Hoisted and reefed from the safety of the cockpit enclosure via the electric Anderson self-tailing winch is a real bonus. A furling headsail plus a furling staysail make for easy sail changes. A trysail and storm jib are included for when it blows a little bit too much.

The aft targa davits take care of any dinghy storage and there are 2 large double sized rear champagne seats integrated into the sturdy solid stainless steel transom rail where it can be opened for easy water access via the wide runged and deep water entry stainless steel ladder. Fishing rod holders and a stainless steel BBQ are all neatly placed on the solid rails

Navigation equipment is extensive and includes Raymarine AIS, send and receive, Radar, Simrad primary autopilot with a Sharp backup pilot as well, chart plotters by B and G Zuess 2 have repeaters at both the helm and nav table. Raymarine wind, depth and speed plus a Furuno fishfinder, Icom VHF and SSB complete the package. Pioneer sound system for audio.

For motoring or motor sailing if the breeze dies, the Ford Lees 75hp with Borg Warner gearbox is quiet and reliable. Burning 4 litres per hour and with 750 litres in the tank, there is a huge nm range between re fuelling. The propellor is a Stainless Autostream feathering 3-blade folding to ensure excellent performance whilst sailing. Battery capacity is 2 engine start plus 4 house and are charged by 2 alternators, a 160 plus 80 amp and also the solar panels of 2 x 100 watts each. An almost new 2019 wind generator D400 also provides additional power 24/7. At the dock there is 240v shore power connection to a Mastervolt charger and also a 100 watt inverter.

This Cavalier 45 is as offshore ready as they get. Don't delay in your inspection to avoid missing out.
