DESCRIPTION
Summer Wine is a true classic, a 1980 Eastcoast 31 in good original condition. Built by Bruce Fairlie at Fairlite Plastics on the NSW Central Coast, who also built the Contessa 26, the Clansman 30, and the Cole 43, these boats were very well built indeed and completed many Sydney-Hobart Races back in their day.
Summer Wine has been well loved and looked after and has enjoyed many seasons of club racing at Avalon Sailing Club. She is in current Category 5 Safety and boasts a main, a roller furling genoa, a multi-purpose cruising spinnaker (asymetric) and an unused storm jib. Her boom cover was replaced in 2020.
These boats have a clever arrangement with sliding doors forward and aft offering privacy to the surprisingly spacious bathroom. The galley is complete with a Danfoss 12 volt fresh water cooled fridge, pressure cold water to the galley sink and the head, and a reliable two burner metho stove.
Solar panel, spray dodger, self-tailing genoa winches, swim ladder, she truly is a complete package.
Her mast was stripped, sand blasted and refitted in 2011, and a new boom was fitted at the same time. Both are still looking really good, and her forestay was replaced in 2015, but of course the remainder of her standing rigging is in need of replacement for insurance.
She has a 20hp Bukh diesel with around 1700 hours on it, and a 3-blade fixed prop. She has a VHF radio, Raymarine ST60 Wind and Tridata display (depth, speed).
There is a Raymarine ST60 linear drive autopilot fitted, and she had 2 new 100 Amp Remco AGM house batteries and a new Hybrid Start battery fitted in 2020, so she is ready to take you far and wide.
