DESCRIPTION
This Herreshoff 28 "Kestrel" is certainly a yacht of pedigree from circa 1975 era. Just one look at her resting quietly on her mooring amongst all the plastic boats around her makes her beauty stand out even more. Her current owner is now living overseas and wants her to go to a new custodian. Her stunning lines, complimented by a small and well designed pilot house to keep out any foul weather, make her the perfect coastal cruiser for short handed voyages. Her freshly painted hull, deck and cockpit which are trimmed in Burmese teak, silver ash and Oregon are all complimented by solid bronze portholes.
Nathanael Herreshoff was an American Naval architect who designed more than 2,000 craft and produced many more drawings. He built 5 winning America's Cup yachts during his career 1938 to 1980. The interior is bright and airy with sleeping accomodation for up to 4, numerous opening port light windows and hatches for ventilation and keeping the timber hull dry inside. Propulsion is supplied by a replacement 20hp Yanmar engine which was fully reconditioned and installed in 2015 by Yanmar certified mechanics on top of new engine mounts and bed at the same time
