RIVIERA 395 SUV
Riviera reveals details of a sensational new under 40-foot motor yacht
Riviera has announced an exciting new model to our expanding collection, the company’s first new under-40-foot models in nearly a decade.
Initial details of the sporty and adventurous 395 SUV were unveiled recently.
The 395 SUV features a new hull and deck design, offering two generous staterooms and a large bathroom on the accommodation deck, a spacious saloon and an open cockpit perfectly designed for relaxing and entertaining or for a raft of water sports.
Offering features and options not seen in the SUV collection previously, Riviera owner and Chairman Rodney Longhurst said the 395 provides a compelling new entree to the Riviera family.
“This model offers exceptional boating options in an easy-to-handle size - the single-level entertaining that is in the DNA of our popular SUV collection with the go-anywhere attributes of our classic blue-water flybridge collection,” said Mr Longhurst.
“In this model, we have introduced a number of innovations that take the SUV to the next level in Riviera’s evolution of continuous improvement. Among them are raised bulwarks on the side decks and a new barbecue centre.
Entertainers' and Adventurers' Cockpit
The cockpit is a generous space for entertaining with comfortable fixed and optional seating for up to six adults and is also the perfect platform for all manner of water sports.
A barbecue unit with a lid and LED lighting is set across the transom, facing forward and accessed from the swim platform so the chef is at the heart of the conversation and entertainment. The unit also includes a sink and food preparation space. Below the barbecue unit, a storage hatch hinges aft, large enough to store a tender outboard, oars, fenders, lines and fishing rods.
A seat is set under the awning window to port with a cool box under that can be optioned to become a refrigerator or freezer. Optional pull-down seating can be set into the coaming on both port and starboard sides. A storage or fish bin is built under the cockpit floor on the starboard side. An icemaker is located in a compartment in the starboard forward quarter.
Another feature new to the Riviera SUV collection is raised bulwarks on the side decks. The raised bulwarks, which are up to 100mm in height from the deck, provide an additional level of security when moving forward or aft along the side decks.
Sunlovers will enjoy a moulded inset in the foredeck that can take a large sunlounge pod with integrated folding backrests and drink holders.
Power for the 395 SUV comes from twin Volvo D6 IPS 500 turbo diesel engines providing 272kw (370hp) with IPS 10 drive units.
The proven performance of IPS offers excellent power-to-weight ratio, spirited performance, enhanced torque, improved fuel efficiency, simple slow-speed joystick maneuverability and whisper-quiet operation thanks to under-water exhausts. The system includes electronic variable rate steering and electronic controls including a joystick for slow speed manoeuvrability. The drive units are protected by the Volvo Penta Active Corrosion Protection System to complement sacrificial anodes and line cutters. All Volvo Penta components and electronics are covered by an industry-leading five-year warranty for further peace of mind.
Light and luxurious saloon
In the saloon, a lower helm and companion seat on the port side forward are standard, with a raised lounge opposite, providing views forward for guests and allowing the skipper, mate and crew to all interact while under way. A lift-up 32-inch TV is positioned forward of the lounge, making it viewable from every part of the saloon and the cockpit. Entertainment can also be provided through the radio and CD sound system with iPod interface.
Sunroof hatches are set on the port and starboard sides of the SUV hardtop, above the helm and forward lounge.
An aft galley on the starboard side includes an electric cooktop, sink and food preparation benchtop, under-bench convection microwave and deep drawer fridge.
The raised dining area, with L-shape seating, is on the port side opposite the galley offering sweeping views through the wrap-around windows, windscreen and aft through the glass bulkhead door and awning window.
The tinted-glass bulkhead between saloon and cockpit is made up of a fixed window behind the galley, an outward-opening stainless steel framed glass centre door and awning window on the port side behind the lounge.
Abundant Accommodation
The lower deck provides sleeping accommodation in comfort for five adults in two cabins; a forward master stateroom with queen-size walk-around double bed and a midships cabin with three single berths.
The master stateroom includes a wardrobe on the port side aft quarter as well as overhead lockers and shelving for personal items on both sides and ensuite access.
The midships cabin includes a wardrobe at the entry. The twin beds on the starboard side can be converted with an infill into a large double bed. Ample storage is available under the twin beds and a clever two-metre-long storage cabinet is overhead, above the port bed, suitable for rod or lifejacket storage.
The very generous-size bathroom includes a vanity, Vacuflush toilet and separate shower stall. With two-way access, the bathroom can be utilised as the master ensuite and day head.
Light and fresh air throughout the accommodation deck is introduced by a clever design of windows, portholes and deck hatches. The master stateroom includes an aft-hinging deck hatch with insect screen and blind. Hull windows on both sides introduce more natural light. In the midships cabin, light is provided by generous hull windows, equipped on both sides with opening portholes. The bathroom is bathed in light and fresh air through a large hull window that includes an opening deck hatch.
