DESCRIPTION
1986 Sadler 34 for sale.
Whether you're after a yacht for coastal port-hopping or crossing oceans, the Sadler 34 offers proven seaworthiness in a tough, unsinkable package.
Around 260 were built from 1983-1995 and they provided owners a good deal more headroom and accommodation space to many of her rivals.
There were several options on the keel configuration, with this one being the deeper fin keel.
She sailed here from England back in 2001. A deep rudder is supported by a full skeg, which, as well as helping her to maintain a straight course, also protects it from floating debris.
At the helm is a tiller and an enormous cockpit area that has you sitting deep in the boat and protected from the elements. The tiller is long, making it possible to reach all the winches when sailing alone or shorthanded. She carries auto tiller as well.
The GRP hull is twin skinned, the outer being the thickness of a conventional hull of that period and the inner is slightly thinner. The gap between the two is packed with high density polyurethane foam, which not only gives her massive bouyancy to the point of being unsinkable, but also keeps her accommodation warm and condensation free, thanks to the insulating effect.
She has a fairly generous masthead sail plan, with a slab reefed mainsail and 135% furling genoa. The single spreader, deck stepped mast has a baby stay and backstay adjuster. All sail control lines are back to Lewmar winches on the coachhouse and in the cockpit area. The boom ends only a few inches aft of the bridgedeck, considerably reducing the chance of a head injury.
Her saloon is warm and cosy with a traditional layout. The table is slightly offset to port and has a drop down leaf on each side, allowing six to eat comfortably. Full length grab rails and handy upright pillars allow for good handholds whilst at sea.
There is a separate aft cabin with a smallish double or grand single. The V berth in the forepeak is a very generous size with 6 ft headroom and over 7ft long bedding. A full size chart table is to starboard. On the port side is a U shaped galley which is ideal for use at sea.
Everything is within easy reach to the cook. A portlight and vent above, give an airy feel to the galley.
Repowered around 2001 with a 25hp Bukh diesel shaft driven engine with just over 1100 hours that has seen proper and regular maintenance since her arrival into Australia. This boat is due for Antifoul and it would be a great time to inspect while out of the water.
Located in Pittwater and exclusive to DBY Boat Sales for inspections.
