DESCRIPTION

1973 Swan 44 for sale.

The owner’s parents purchased Wiz in 1983, and did a complete refit prior to cruising the South Pacific, Caribbean, and Mexico. 

The current owners purchased Wiz from them in 2002 and did a complete refit in Seattle.  The rig was pulled, mast painted, and every fitting on the mast inspected and polished prior to re-attachment.  Every inch of wiring and plumbing was replaced. 

Wiz has been well maintained for the last 35 years by our boatbuilding family.

There have been several major improvements along the way to make this fantastic sailing Swan more functional for cruising -

The original “submarine” companionway was modified make a much easier entry and provide better ventilation. This also added counter workspace next to the galley. 

All teak has been removed from the deck.  This is lower maintenance, lighter, cleaner, and much cooler than the original full teak decks. 

The V-berth has been modified into a very comfortable double with memory foam cushions. 

The upper “semi-bunks” in the saloon have been replaced with functional shelving and storage.  The traveler has been replaced with a simpler and much safer central sheeting arrangement.

The rudder has been lengthened for improved downwind stability. 

An additional 80 litre diesel tank extends range. 

The family has now completed their trip from Mexico to Australia and Wiz is sail-away ready.
