Marten Yachts Makes Waves in the 2007 Middle Sea Race

The 28th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race delivered tough and testing conditions with just 12 yachts having completed the course from a total of 55 entries.

Thunderstorms, hail and wind squalls were not enough to prevent the Marten 49 ‘Vineta’, her owner Felix Scheder-Biechin and her young crew from enjoying the challenge of this highly rated offshore classic. Proving their staying power, Vineta’s crew not only crossed the finish line of the 607 nautical-mile race, but also finished an impressive third place on corrected time. Designed by Reichel Pugh, the Marten 49 continues to validate why it sets the benchmark for the performance cruiser concept.

Born from the same family, the 66’Marten Yacht ‘Rubino’ also finished the race in a credible sixth position.
