Mustang has selected a 350 MAG DTS SeaCore engine to power its very first 2850 Sports Cruiser – a brilliant all-new model for the famed Australian boat builder.

Launched recently at Mustang Marine Queensland on the Gold Coast, the 2850 Sports Cruiser has been designed as an excellent entry level boat. With the ideal mix of performance and family entertainment, it features an increased beam, exciting cockpit galley for outdoor entertaining, increased cabin space with full standing head room, separate shower, toilet and sleeping for up to five adults in comfort.

Powering the 2850 through the water will be MerCruiser’s 5.7litre 350 MAG engine, which delivers 300 hp through a Bravo 3 twin propeller drive.

“Mustang has selected a great engine. The 2850 is just under eight metres long so the 350 MAG will deliver plenty of power,” said David Meehan, Director – MerCruiser Australia, New Zealand, Pacific.

“There’s a lot of torque as well for get up and go, and the 350 MAG is a tried and true performer so it has excellent reliability and long life.”

Owners wanting even more power can opt to have MerCruiser’s 320 hp 377 MAG or 425 hp 496 MAG H.O engines.

As well as having a great engine, the 2850 is fitted as standard with MerCruiser’s superb Digital Throttle & Shift controls, to make driving a real pleasure. These are usually an option in most boats this size.

Mustang has also opted to fit the 2850 Sports Cruiser with SmartCraft digital instrumentation as standard.

SmartCraft provides drivers with real-time information on a variety of vital engine functions including fuel flow, fuel range, fuel used, and RPM to provide peak performance. It also automatically monitors for early indications of engine problems and instantly takes corrective action if necessary.

SeaCore was chosen as standard for the first 2850 and will be an option for all future boats.

MerCruiser’s unique SeaCore corrosion protection system leads the way as it protects engines all the way to the core with industrial hardcoat anodizing, a closed-cooling system and widespread use of stainless steel components. Because of these additional SeaCore features the engines come with a 4-year corrosion warranty, which is unmatched in the marine industry.

“When you combine the 2850’s fantastic internal features with the performance you’re going to get from MerCruiser’s 350 MAG engine – Mustang has created an extremely good boating package,” David said.
