The very popular 290 Ocean Runner RIB (rigid inflatable boat) has been re-rated and can now run a 15hp outboard – a significant jump from the previous 10hp limit.

“We regularly compare our boats against the latest international regulations and we’ve found the 290 now warrants a power increase,” said Ian Stanley, Product Manager for Mercury Inflatable Boats.

The 290 Ocean Runner RIB performs brilliantly in a number of roles – as a yacht tender, a fishing platform or a fun family run-about.

And with more power, it’s now able to get you to where you’re going even faster.

Being an RIB, the 290 Ocean Runner has a fibreglass rigid hull so it delivers the strength of a conventional boat with the exceptional stability of an inflatable – in one extremely light package.

At 2.9 metres long and able to carry up to four people, the 290 Ocean Runner RIB weighs in at just 62 kilograms.

With three separate air chambers and a flat non-skid fibreglass floor providing plenty of safety, this great little inflatable also comes with an extra tough transom and a strong fibreglass seat.

And like all Mercury Inflatable Boats, the 290 Ocean Runner RIB is made to last, being constructed from super-tough materials:

Durable Mehler Haku PVC Fabric – a heavy-duty long-life fabric which offers excellent resistance to cuts, abrasions and general wear and tear (three year limited warranty); or

Super-Tough Achilles HP Fabric – a premium quality, extra heavy-duty fabric which is resistant to cuts, abrasions, fire, ultra-violet light and fading (five year limited warranty).

Mercury Inflatable Boats include features such as high-quality long-life fittings, davit lifting points, paddle-securing clamps, convenient lifting and grab handles, oars and a high velocity air pump.
