New Hanse 495 Ready for Launch World premiere at the boot Dusseldorf in January, Australian premiere at Sydney International Boatshow in August.

Hanse’s latest interpretation of a fast and elegant family cruiser involved a demanding brief to the design office of Judel/Vrolijk & Co. The interior has been overseen by the internationally acclaimed designers Birgit Schnaase Interior Design SID. The result is a strikingly elegant yacht with harmonic deck-hull-rig proportions and innovative technical solutions for sailing and living aboard.

Highlights

Superb sailing abilities with a well proportioned sail area

A spacious crew friendly cockpit and a safe accessible deck

Large and easy to operate transom door, making ideal gangway/bathing platform

Stress free and safe joystick “Smart Mooring System” with bow and sternthruster

Variable interior layout, spacious owner’s cabin either forward or aft

Exterior and Sailing Concept

A clear foredeck, open, easily accessed coach roof and an extensive protected cockpit area with integrated table all combine to make sailing safe and easy for the crew. There is extensive storage in the foredeck locker and cockpit lockers, with a dedicated life raft position.

All manoeuvres are easily controlled from the helmsman’s position, assisted by electrical winches. As on all models the Hanse trademark self tacking jib is provided as standard equipment. The Hanse “Smart Mooring System” moves the yacht under motor power in every direction and is the result of extensive studies. It works with a bow and stern thruster system from MaxPower with a single joystick, with compact and retractable units.

It is an option on the Hanse 495 and will be available on other Hanse models.

Visual Concept

Guidelines to Judel/Vrolijk stated that the yacht must not have too voluminous a hull but must suit a flexible interior concept allowing owners cabins with ensuites in the bow as well as aft section. The saloon and galley needed to be as generous as possible for a 49 foot yacht. These guidelines have been achieved with a careful combination of hull and superstructure geometry, using a moderately formed U section to the hull structure and a striking coach roof eyebrow design.

The companionway is positioned forward of a protected bridge deck, which provides significant additional under deck space, allowing more freedom for the interior design of the desired cabin layouts.

The combination of four hull windows, characteristic Hanse waterline design and powerful rig creates a refined appearance for this dynamic family cruiser.

Interior Concept

The Hanse 495 interior is new interpretation of the loft style concept that Hanse introduced for series production sailing yachts. Birgit Schnaase Interior Design SID has overseen the continued development of this extremely flexible and customisable approach. The galley is generous and well equipped with a wide outside view; a spacious and airy saloon has an L shaped settee. The Hanse 495 has minimum headroom of 2 meters and a new indirect illumination concept.
