A passion for Australian manufacturing and a core belief in the skills and talents of the Australian workforce are what drives the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of luxury cruiser manufacturer Maritimo, Garth Corbitt.
Mr Corbitt was appointed as Maritimo’s Chief Financial Officer in August 2010 and has just been made CEO of the Coomera based company.
He has a diverse career history involving accounting and finance, management, commercial restructures, acquisitions, disposal work, management buyouts, publishing, the petroleum industry and floor covering manufacturing.
Prior to joining Maritimo he spent five years with the Gold Coast based Neumann’s Group where his acquisitions experience and skills guided the family owned company’s purchase of the Matilda Fuel network.
“I have a diverse skills set, but common to all the businesses I have been involved with is the challenge of restructuring and promotion of growth and it is my passion for manufacturing within Australia that drives me,” he said.
“The government has progressively withdrawn support for manufacturing in this country and I believe we have a lot of high quality people who can compete with anyone in the world so manufacturing should be promoted and encouraged.
“With Maritimo and Mustang we have a niche market product that encompasses state of the art design and build quality and I want to expand and grow the business so we have greater market share. “ We have a solid dealer network, a loyal customer base, a high quality product with a number of exciting new models being brought on-line and we have undergone a corporate restructure which positions us nicely for the future.”
Mr Corbitt is married with two children and shifted to the Gold Coast from Sydney with his family 10 years ago.
