Mercury, the undisputed leader in marine power and technology, now has an unmatched diesel range led by the new V6 and V8 TDi models.

The TDi engines clearly show their Volkswagen heritage by providing a diesel driving experience which is superior to any other.  Lightweight, quiet and fuel efficient, the TDi engines are also exceptionally reliable and suitable for both sterndrive and inboard applications.

The TDi 4.2 litre V8 now comes with two new horsepower ratings – 335hp and a whopping 370hp  producing 782Nm of torque.

The TDi 3.0 litre V6 has 230hp and 260hp versions.

Created to be outstanding, the new TDi engines are better than ever – being fully compatible with Mercury’s SmartCraft and Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) technologies.

The SmartCraft suite of digital technology including gauges, sensors and computer-controlled features has been created to make boating easier and safer.

SmartCraft not only monitors engine parameters including oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, total run time, sea water pressure and fuel burn, it also provides a comprehensive diagnostic display that can identify an issue before it becomes serious.

Additionally, Mercury’s optional DTS technology delivers precise, smooth throttle and shift control. It also enables new features such as a cruise control interface when coupled with the new Vessel View 4 or Vessel View 7 screens. With DTS as a base, the Axius joystick control system is now available for the V6 and V8 models in twin installations.

Weighing in at just 423kgs for a Bravo 3 sterndrive package, the TDi 3.0 litre V6 delivers peak torque at just 2,000rpm, thanks in part to its variable geometry turbo (VGT), which means less time to plane and great acceleration.

With dual VGTs, even more horses and weighing a mere 496kgs with a Bravo 3 sterndrive package, the new TDi 4.2 litre V8 is the industry leader when it comes to outstanding acceleration with virtually no turbo lag.

Mercury’s brilliant diesel range is then rounded out by the solid, quiet and dependable QSD engines with their high-pressure common-rail fuel injection system and performance boosting turbo technology.

Coming in 2.0, 2.8 and 4.2 litre variants, the Mercury Diesel QSD engines range from 115hp to 350hp with each blending diesel efficiency with power to spare.

The new TDI models are expected to hit Australia and New Zealand towards the end of October.
