September 2011 offers Australian boating and rugby fans a unique opportunity to combine their twin passions, in one place, at the same time.

This will be a rare and wonderful chance for Aussies to enjoy rugby at the very highest level while also discovering what is on offer at New Zealand’s only internationally-accredited boat show and why so many Kiwis go boating.

On the same weekend that the Wallabies take on the Irish at Eden Park, New Zealand plays host to New Zealand’s premier boat show in the Viaduct Harbour in the very heart of downtown Auckland.

Now in its 13th year, the Auckland International Boat Show is an outstanding marine exhibition that showcases the very best from New Zealand’s world-leading marine industry.

What’s more, it does so in style. Surrounded by some of the best restaurants and bars in the country, Viaduct Harbour and its new Events Centre provide the perfect venue for this world-class boat show.

With the sun reflecting off their gleaming fibreglass, the latest GRP yachts and power cruisers float proudly alongside their counterparts from last century and beyond.  These beautifully restored classic boats, many of them well over 100 years old, are an integral part of the show.

Just a short walk from Rugby World Cup 2011’s “party central” and from the city’s hotels, the 2011 Auckland International Boat Show is perfectly positioned for those in town for the World Cup.

International visitors are always welcome at the Auckland International Boat Show and, in 2011, special provision is being made for those who come to the show from offshore. Show tickets will be available for purchase on-line from www.aucklandinternationalboatshow.com from October 2010.

New Zealand marine industry ‘on-show’ extends to iconic NZ marine companies opening their doors to international visitors, giving them a direct insight to, for example, how some of the world-leading superyachts and the latest trailer power boats are constructed, how the latest carbon fibre technology is used in mast construction, and how the internationally renowned marine jet unit is manufactured.  This international visitor programme will run throughout September and October 2011.  Bookings can be made on-line at http://www.nzmarine.com or at the Auckland International Boat Show website.
