Noosa to host Honda Over The Top Expedition stopover
Travelling from Sydney to Perth in a ‘rubber ducky’ to raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer, brothers Peter and Phillip Jenkins will arrive in Noosa this Saturday (6 August).
Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club is staging a cocktail party fundraising event that same evening for the Honda Over The Expedition and is extending an invitation to the entire Sunshine Coast region.
Tickets to the event, which begins at 5.30pm, are $30 per head with all proceeds going to Cancer Council Australia.
Honda Over The Top Expedition leader, and prostate cancer survivor, Peter Jenkins said he was looking forward to seeing a good turn-out of local people for the evening.
“We left Sydney to begin our 9500km ‘over the top’ journey on Monday and are really looking forward to our stopover in Noosa this weekend,” Mr Jenkins said.
“My brother Phillip is a Noosa local, so please come along to the event for a great night out and at the same time support a great cause!”
Close to 3000 Australian men die each year from prostate cancer. It is one of the most common cancers in men in Australia, second only to skin cancer.
Finishing in Perth in early October, the Honda Over The Top Expedition aims to raise $200,000 for Cancer Council Australia for research into effective prostate cancer detection and treatment.
Tickets to Saturday’s cocktail party fundraising event can be purchased by contacting Wanda Jardine on 0407 962 721.
