North South Yachting, Australian importer of Bavaria Yachts, has today sold their 400th new yacht. The new order, a Bavaria CRUISER 32, will be delivered to new owners in Adelaide.
The 400th yacht has come on a wave of very strong sales through the end of 2009. NSY has sold 22 new yachts in the last six months and recorded one of the strongest December sales results in their history. Alongside new yachts, brokerage sales have also been very strong through the second half of 2009 with 19 boats sold since June.
2010 has also started strongly for North South Yachting with three new yachts arriving for commissioning at Quays Marina, Pittwater. The three new arrivals demonstrate the diversity achieved by North South Yachting with the Bavaria 38 for syndicated ownership through Boat Syndicates International, a Bavaria 35 for charter ownership in Sydney Harbour with SailCorp and the first Cruiser 32 to arrive in Australia for private ownership.
The future for the Bavaria brand is also very exciting. The German factory recently fashioned one of the most electrifying yacht design partnerships in production yacht building by teaming up with Farr Yacht Design and BMW Designworks USA (a subsidiary of the BMW Group). New models announced to date are the Cruiser 55, Cruiser 32 and Cruiser 45, all three of which will make their Australian debuts in the first half of 2010. Exciting features on the new models include: twin rudders (45 and 55), massive lowerable bathing platforms, flush forward deck hatches (45 and 55) and many new options. Further new models are set to be announced throughout 2010.
The Bavaria factory recently invested €10m in a fourth production line and will be investing a further €50m in additional production enhancements and new model design. With the capacity to build up to 5000 boats per year with millimetric precision, the consistency of quality is unbeatable. With a production labour cost of around 10%, such economies of scale make Bavaria Yachts exceptional value.
Bob Mulkearns, MD of North South Yachting said:
“We’re very proud to have reached the 400 boat mark. It’s been made possible through hard work and a real passion for our products. We’re also lucky to have such loyal customers who do a fantastic job spreading the word for us and we now have some owners who are on their fourth Bavaria. You can’t get better advocates than that.
North South Yachting couldn’t have achieved this milestone without a top drawer products. We have always sold on the key points of quality, performance and value and these are still core elements today. Quality comes from the highest level of technological production and a German manufacturing philosophy; Performance is in-built through collaboration with the best designers and Value is delivered through incomparable efficiency and economies of scale. I really believe that it would be impossible to replicate this high quality in other factories for the same low cost without the continuing application of technology and investment. It’s a winning combination.”
North South Yachting, based in Pittwater NSW, has been the exclusive importer for Bavaria Yachts since 1997. In that time they have built up one of the few truly national distribution networks with agents in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. Significantly, NSY is also proud to be one of the only yacht distributors with a national service office offering support to all Bavaria owners in Australia.
