The first Southerly 49 built by UK-based Northshore Yachts, and on show at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show, will feature a complete suite of navigational, communication and safety products from Raymarine.  It will be one of the first sailing yachts to have the new E Series Widescreen HybridTouch, with ST60+ instruments and new HD High Definition digital radar.

The Southerly 49 is designed as a powerful and sleek yacht, for blue-water and long distance cruising.   Ben Davies, Sales Manager at Northshore Yachts says, “”Southerly are excited to be one of the first manufacturers worldwide to fit the new E Series Wide system.  Southerly have chosen Raymarine as their preferred electronics supplier, based upon an excellent after sales support and international dealership network.  Along with being able to offer a complete networked system, we find that Raymarine equipment is very reliable, quick and simple to operate.”

He continues, “The new E Series Wide system with improved screen clarity, touch screen function and many other new features promises to be a popular choice for our owners looking to get the best from their onboard navigation systems.”

The navigational equipment for the Southerly 49 displayed at the Tullett Prebon boat show was selected by the boat’s owners, Paul and Sheryl Shard, who are TV presenters famous for their long-distance cruising.  They have clocked up over 16,000 nautical miles in the last two years, sailing on board a Raymarine-equipped Southerly 42RST.   The new Southerly 49 and its Raymarine equipment will feature in the Distant Shores adventure sailing TV series, which is broadcast in over 200 countries.
