Outstanding results for Mercury at Victorian Ski Championships

Mercury engines have powered home more winners – this time at the tightly contested Victorian Championships.

With a record number of entries, this year’s titles were held at Lake Charm, just south of Swan Hill, and it will be remembered as a hot weekend – for the weather and the racing.

Amongst the hottest of the hot were driver David Blight, observer Christian Apps and skier Mark Weaver who, in their boat Nipple, finished the Championships with two trophies.

Powered by an OptiMax 300hpXS, Nipple crossed the line first in the Unlimited Outboard competition, finishing the five lap race in 19 minutes 11 seconds, to be more than a minute clear of the second placed finisher. Then they backed it up in the Formula 2 category. However, this time it was much, much closer with Nipple taking the chequered flag in 13 minutes 36, just four seconds ahead of the rest.

Another one of Mercury’s winners at the Lake was in the hotly contested SMOC class.

With Tim Everist behind the wheel of the newly designed V5 Velocity boat from Race Marine, Brett Williamson observing and Rhys Duggan on the ski, The Specimen, boasting a OptiMax 250hp ProXS power pack recorded a time of 14 minutes 11 seconds for the five laps, 32 seconds ahead of the pack
