With more exhibitors, more new release products and more tackle brands on display than ever before the 2010 Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show exceeded expectations with over 35,000 visitors streaming through the gates of the RNA Showgrounds on the weekend.
 
The three day show which ran from Friday the 19th of March until Sunday the 21st of March provided visitors with a fantastic showcase of what Queensland’s trailer boat industry has on offer in 2010.
 
The show, which co-located with the National 4×4 and Outdoors Show for the 6th year in a row, set new crowd records with peak attendances across all three days of the show.  The total crowd figure of 35, 537 was twelve percent higher than last year’s show which attracted 31,644 over the three days.
 
Jason Plant from the Tinnie and Tackle Show said that this year’s attendance figures were testament to the fact that Queenslander’s love getting outdoors and enjoying the boating lifestyle.
 
“We were privileged to present a range of firsts at this year’s show including the international debut of the Black Watch 22’ Centre Console and Tournament 2050 Walkabout.  We also had the recently released CruiseCraft Explorer 485 and 530 and Stessl Boats ‘Coast Runner’ range” said Plant.
 
“The Tinnie and Tackle Show and National 4×4 and Outdoors Show is certainly establishing itself as one of Brisbane’s iconic annual events.”
 
Marine accessories, chandlery items and fishing tackle were amongst the show’s biggest sellers with Hervey Bay- based company Cooper Anchors running out of stock by lunchtime on Saturday.
 
“We are thrilled with the response we had to our newly developed nylon boat anchor. It’s the only one of its kind in the world and visitors to the show welcomed it with open arms!” said Jon Cooper, manager of Cooper Anchors.
 
Fishing Tackle retailer Allround Angler reported a 10% increase in sales on last year.
 
“Visitor numbers exceeded all expectations… our staff were run off their feet!” said Peter Teske, owner of the Caboolture based tackle shop.
 
First time exhibitor’s at the show, Dunbier Trailers were likewise impressed with visitors to the show.
 
“We thought the show directly targeted our marine client base.  When you add the visitors who came to visit the 4WD side of the show, it gave us a great future client set. It was a pleasure to exhibit in such a well planned and advertised show” said Shane Kite from Dunbier Marine Products.
 
The Club Marine Fishing Expo provided non-stop talks and demonstrations along with heaps of giveaways from leading tackle manufacturers.  The Club Marine Fishing Expo was also the stage for the daily weigh-ins of the 2010 Humminbird Queensland Open. Team Lowrance took home the trophy and $8,000 with a total scale reading of 7.58Kg, a mere 40 grams more than second place getters Team Megabass with 7.54Kg.
 
Show organiser’s, Marine Queensland, are extremely pleased with the results from this year’s event and are now looking forward to the 50th Brisbane Boat Show which we will be held from the 26th to the 29th of August 2010.
 
Dates for the 2011 Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show and National 4×4 Show have been set for the 18th to 20th of March.
