PERSHING 72 WINS POWERBOAT OF THE YEAR 2008

The winners of the 2008 European Powerboat of the Year Awards were announced at this year’s Düsseldorf Boat Show in Germany.

The awards, which are judged by a panel of senior journalists drawn from some of Europe’s top yachting magazines, recognize excellence in four categories for powerboats launched in 2007.

The Pershing 72, which was displayed in Germany for the first time ever, was designed by Italian naval architect Fulvio De Simoni in consultation with Pershing chairman Tilli Antonelli. The 22.3m (73ft) vessel boasts a number of important design changes, including a radically new hull profile. It also has a retractable glass partition between cockpit and upper salon.

With twin 1823hp MTU Common Rail engines combined with an Arneson drive, the Pershing 72 is capable of speeds of up to 45kt.
